So there’s a good chance you have a smartphone, cell phone, mobile phone… depending which end of the planet you live on. And on top of that you’ve posted photos on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter… But are you getting the best out of your phone images? Does it matter?
Well this is a quick step by step guide to what I do with almost every single image I post, from my iPhone 5 (and all my previous phones).
So what I did and what you can do to make the most of your smartphone photographs:
1- I installed Snapseed. You can try photoshop or some other editing app but the principle is the same.
2 – Take a photograph, selfie, whatever (duh)
3 – Open it in Snapseed (or any editing app)
4 – Adjust the following to taste, in order to get the best out of the captured image. The file will allow for a degree of improvement so don’t be afraid to experiment. You’ll find this in Tune Image:
Brightness
Ambience
Contrast
Shadows
Warmth (this is effective the white balance) We can talk about white balance in another post if you like!
5 – Adjust the sharpness (in snapseed this is called Details). I find around 40 is safe. Don’t go too high, well try it and see what happens, but don’t save. You can always revert.
Unfortunately snapseed only allows for reverting all the way back, not to the previous state.
Afterwards, save or send it to whatever app you need to, such as instagram.
My instagram is damianbrown, feel welcome to add me!
Make the most of your Smartphone Photographs!
